Amy Cormier grew up in downtown Toronto, immersed Canada’s burgeoning music scene. As a teenager she could be found at all-ages concerts and turned her hobby into an early career in Canada’s music industry, rising quickly through finance and marketing into public relations.
The publishing industry soon noticed Amy’s achievements and invited her to work her magic in a whole new industry. As National Publicity Director, with Simon& Schuster Canada, Amy played a key role in the careers of emerging and established authors, working across all genres. (If you indulge Amy in a latte she’ll tell you all about about working with Stephen King, Hillary Clinton, Frank McCourt and Mark Bittman… just to name a few.)
After 17 rewarding years with Simon & Schuster, Amy’s focus shifted to a work/life family balance (if you indulge Amy in a second latte she’ll tell you all about her fabulous family) and, as such, a new industries came calling offering an exciting array of consulting opportunities.
When the opportunity arose to join the team here at Merkato, Amy couldn’t say no. Excited to bring a wealth of knowledge, she’s just as excited to learn from all of her new colleagues and from You.
Happiest when close to any body of water, running around after her toddler and sneaking in a few moments with a book, she can only say that life is very good. (If you would like to hear about trips to the lake and what book you should be reading please make sure Amy has a decaf latte or she’ll be up all night.)
